Love of the SD30! Empty
PostSubject: Love of the SD30!   Love of the SD30! EmptyFri Feb 29, 2008 11:53 am

Just wanted to post how much I love my SD30. It is a series 1 head I bought straight from Budda many years ago. I think it might have been 2001 or 2002, but I might be a little off. I dealt with Scott when I bought it... great guy. I've also spoken with Jeff B. a couple of times. Great people, great company, great amps!

Anyway, I've used it on hundreds of gigs.....never failed me.....always sounds great...........always brings the rock.

I have another amp I love now...a Hayseed 30 and I alternate them for shows depending on what is being played. Still I'll never get rid of my SD30.

Feel free to post about your love for the SD30 here.

Are all the SD's preamp pretty much the same just the power amp and wattage?

I don't think there are big differences between the circuits. The power tubes are the thing.

18 and 30 have EL84s

the 45 has KT66's

the 80 has 6l6's

the new one that is coming out is going to be 6v6 powered! I really want to try this one and wouldn't be surprised to find myself wanting one.

The Superdrive series is absolutely amazing. I have a Series I SD30 head (PTP wired w/no mid pull and the cab switching function). I've had mine for about 6 years. Absolutely fantastic! I've also spent considerable time with the SD80 - which is just as amazing. Vox meets Plexi on the Rhythm channel and one of the best Plexi on steriods tones I've ever heard on the Drive side. Hard to beat!

PostSubject: Wow - This is the amp I've been looking for...   Love of the SD30! EmptyThu May 01, 2008 2:57 pm

I just played a SuperDrive 18 1x12 combo. It's amazing. Am I wrong in thinking this thing is like a Mesa without the fussy-ness? I seriously could not get a bad sound of of this. Coming from a Fender 6L6 past, the clean was a tad darker but with much more mid punch. I went into the store wanting to hear an AC30 and get some jangle going on... this answered my question in a way that I didn't expect. I never, never had such a connection to a lead channel with no effects...no reverb. Am I losing my mind?

Help! Are these amps on backorder frequently? Are they considered "current" production?

Thanks for any comments.
